Are you having trouble getting your website indexed at Google? Has it been a few weeks or even months and you still aren't indexed? Search engines such as Google continue to get more and more sophisticated. With that, it's becoming easier and easier for quality sites to get indexed in their search engine. You simply have to follow a few basic steps and your site will most likely be indexed by Google in a matter of days or weeks.

Step 1) Secure inbound links

Google has a robot that constantly crawls the web, clicking on links, looking to index more pages and also find out what the most popular sites on the web are. It's vitally important to get a few quality links from other sites that point to your website. These sites should obviously be indexed already in Google's search engine. When you are able to do this, Google will follow that link to your site, recognize that your site isn't already in their search engine, and hopefully index you, provided that you meet a certain amount of quality.

Step 2) Submit your sitemap to Google

You are going to want an XML sitemap for your site to submit to search engines. There are all kinds of free tools out there to do this. Simply do a search for "xml sitemaps" and you will be sure to find several to choose from. Once you have an XML sitemap, you should go to Google Webmaster Tools (again, do a Google search to find the URL). Once you login, you'll be able to verify your ownership of your site and then submit your XML sitemap. While this isn't a guarantee that your site will be indexed, it can often times speed up the process of Google recognizing your site and indexing your pages.

Step 3) Check for any issues

Since you've already registered an account in Google Webmaster Tools, you'll now gain key insights into how Google sees your site. This is a great opportunity to find out if there are any errors with your site. Some errors could be minor, such as broken links which could harm your search rankings. Others, such as hidden text or other manipulative methods could be preventing your site from being indexed and could possible ban you from Google and other search engines.

Step 4) Build more content

Google likes to see websites that are constantly updated with new content. If you have secured some links (as many quality links as possible) and you have submitted your XML sitemap, continue to build fresh, new, valuable content. You can never have enough quality content for your website. Adding more quality content also improves other factors with Google, allowing you to slowly build a reputation and thus, improve your rankings in their search engine. Build content that people will find interesting and also naturally link to from their own blogs or websites. If you can do this, you'll begin to see a snowball in your traffic and the potential to earn a solid income from your website will go up considerably.

Step 5) Build an HTML sitemap

If you want to make sure that all of your pages get indexed, building an HTML sitemap is the best way to do that. Create one page that links to each and every other page on your website. This allows Google to easily crawl and find all of your pages. Make sure that you link to this HTML sitemap page from your homepage, making sure it's even easier to find. Visitors will find this page useful also. It will allow them to more easily find pages that are of interest to them.

Following these four steps, in order, will not only get your site indexed quickly, but you'll also have more of your pages indexed, and if the quality of your content is good, it will allow you to slowly improve your rankings in Google.
