I know, I know, social media... everyone is doing it, or so it seems. If you haven't jumped on board, you might want to consider these facts. "Face" the Facts:

1.) Facebook is the #2 site on the Internet

2.) You are just as likely to find a CEO, as you are a college student using Facebook

3.) There are a few easy ways to tap into the Facebook Goldmine without spending a dime

4.) If you want to spend a dime... Facebook advertising can be very rewarding!

Step 1 - Get a Personal Facebook Page Many of us in business have a Facebook personal page. If you don't, go ahead and open a Facebook account. It takes but a few minutes. The challenge for most entrepreneurs is in how to use Facebook in a way that generates business. That is where the Facebook FanPage comes into play.

Step 2 - Create a Fan Page for Your Company You need to have a Facebook personal page in order to create and take advantage of a Fan Page. You can create as many as you want. To start, create a fan page for your business. To create, go to your personal page. On the left hand side under the "News Feeds" look for and then click on "Ads and Pages". You will be taken to an application where you'll be asked a series of short questions. You can literally have your page up and running in less than five minutes.

There are a lot of reasons why you should have a fan page. The biggest is FREE Advertising. Let me say that again... FREE advertising. As an example, let's say you are having an open house at your store next week or you are holding a webinar for a new service you are starting. You can send invitations out via email to everyone who is a fan of your page.

In addition, a fan page can be a very handy tool used to communicate and stay "front of mind" for your clients and prospects.

Step 3 - Consider Paid Advertising Remember point #2 up above? You are just as likely to find a CEO, as you are a college student on Facebook. You are just as likely to find future clients and customers if you want, and fast by using Facebook advertising. To navigate to it, you'll need to scroll to the bottom of your personal or fan page where you will see the word "Advertising". Click "Advertising" and like the fan page application, you will be taken through a similar, quick and easy process for your first advertising campaign.

What makes advertising on Facebook most appealing is the ease and ability to target your audience by interest. For example, if you want to target entrepreneurs, you can put together a campaign specific to entrepreneurs who have read the book "Think and Grow Rich" by placing that information in the "Like and Interest" area.

If you are warming up to the idea of increasing your social media arsenal and want to learn more about using Facebook to grow your business, I recommend a helpful book called, Facebook Marketing. Pick up a copy, and then start mining the Facebook Gold!
