All players go through slumps, even the Hall of Fame players. They know that it\'s a part of the game. The better players though, have a strategy to lessen the length and severity of it.

Maybe it has to do with Baseball season starting here in the US. Not a day will go by without mention of some player being in a major... slump. All players go through slumps, even the Hall of Fame players. They know that it's a part of the game. The better players though, have a strategy to lessen the length and severity of it.
Needless to say, baseball players aren't the only ones prone to slumps. For entrepreneurs, slumps can be downright paralyzing. Taken to an extreme, they could place your company and your personal relations at risk. Here are a few strategies you can use to lessen the severity of your next slump.
1.) Be Pro-Active
Now I don't know about you, but I can usually feel when my slumps are coming. I tend to have a noticeable lack of energy or an above average tired feeling. Usually the low-energy feeling is accompanied with a less optimistic view of the world, my business or my talents and abilities. I use this warning as a way to get ahead of the slump. I get back to exercising if I've slacked off lately. I'll make sure that I eat better. Who knows, I might even try to get a little more sleep!
2.) Change Your Chemistry
We are a walking chemistry experiment. If your chemistry is out of whack, it will impact your mental state. Get enough exercise. Exercise enhances your mood. Eat better! Fried foods, high fats and a lot of meat will cause your blood to focus on digestion rather than helping your brain process information. Eat less and focus on foods that are easy to digest like fruits and veggies. And limit your alcohol consumption.
3.) Lend a Helping Hand
It's not possible to aid a fellow human being and not feel good about it. Volunteer or look for opportunities to give someone in need a lift.
4.) Get Back to Basics
Like the slumping ball player who will work on the fundamentals of his game and spend hours in the batting cage working hard to get his hitting groove back, you should follow the same path. Are there fundamental skills that you can focus on and improve upon that will begin to provide you some success?
5.) Little Successes
Momentum is huge when slumping. The best way to get out is to start building upon mini-success. Focus on getting small tasks completed. You'll notice as you do, the energy will start to build.
6.) Get Away
I used this technique recently. I had been pushing it 7 days a week lately working on a product launch and two membership sites that I'm developing, life was crazy!!! I soon hit a major slump. As much as I told myself, I couldn't afford to take a day off, I forced myself to do it. 24 hours later I was a new, refreshed guy excited about going back to the office.
Slums are unavoidable and occur for many reasons. The above strategies should help in lessening the length and severity of your next slump and get you back to hitting home runs in no time!
